1. ARG takes care of pets without a home. 

动物权益组织照顾无家可归的宠物。

【点拨】care名词，意为“照料，保护，小心”， care作名词用时常与动词take连用, 构成短语take care意为“小心”；take care of意为“照顾, 保管”，相当于look after。

例如：He is old enough to take care of himself. 

他足够大能照顾自己了。

【归纳拓展】care的不同用法

(1)care作动词, 意为“关心；照料”。例如：

I don’t care what will happen. 

我不管会发生什么。

(2)care的形容词形式为careful，意为“小心的，仔细的”，副词形式为carefully，意为“仔细地，小心地”。例如：

She is a careful girl. 她是一个细心的女孩。

Jenny writes the exam carefully. 

詹妮认真地考试。

2. His family left him alone in a field. 

他的家人把他撇在田野里。

【自主领悟】alone 副词，意为“单独；独自”，用在实义动词后，相当于by oneself独自，leave. . . alone不管；撇下……（一个人）。
